The Continous Marginalisation of Youths in Nigeria
Related to country: Nigeria

Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

Youths in Nigeria are continuously on the negative receiving end that results from failure on the part of the nation’s leadership in translating concrete plans into actions that is where there are actual plans any way. The rising trend of restiveness among youths requires urgent attention. Nobody seems to be looking towards this particular direction. There are lots of frustrated youths out there not many recognize the supposed opportunities that they are continuously told about. While there are opportunities it is reaching the opportune few. The status quo is twice as hot competition is high while accessibility is very low. Earning power amongst young people in Nigeria is till very low.

Up till date the present political dispensation has yet to come up with any concrete plans that would positively affect youths in Nigeria. While they are still procrastinating the heat is gathering up. Things are looking tighter politically not with the secrecy surrounding the health status of the President of Nigeria. I really wonder why such a sensitive issue should be shrouded in so much secrecy. Like always they are doing things without taking full consideration of the implications their actions pose as it regards the security of the nation should anything happen to the president which we pray against. I really don’t know why issues are handled in this nation in a shoddy manner. It’s amazing that as at now they have not given a clear picture as to the real health situation of the president and its implications should anything go wrong. They are using the famous denial method in handling this case again.

They are doing it again like other times before. This time around I suggest that youths get it right and employ intelligent strategizing in order that we do not get swept away by the tide that seems to be rising by the day. Its only a matter of time before what is happening in the Niger Delta would be replicated in there parts of the country remember what we see today is as a result of almost fifty years of neglect, irresponsibility and insensitivity. We need to begin to speak up as young people both to our other comrades and the government who isn’t recognizing the urgency in engaging young people in their activities. Things are heating up, I hope other people are watching with me.
